Update- Montréal Wins

2009 Site Selection

The site for the 2009 World Science Fiction Convention will be voted on by members of the 2007 Worldcon.  All Supporting and Attending members of Nippon 2007 are eligible to vote for the 2009 Worldcon location, either by mail or in person at the convention.  Members who pay the $45 USD voting fee and vote automatically become supporting members of the 2009 Worldcon regardless of which bidder wins.

Mail-in ballots must be received by 31 July.  After that date, you must vote at the convention, or have authorized another person to deliver your signed ballot at the convention.  Electronic ballots are not accepted.  Voting closes at 7 pm (19:00) JT on Saturday, September 1.  Detailed instructions are on the downloadable .pdf ballot.

A www.worldcon.org  article  dating from 1994 points out some considerations when choosing a Worldcon site.  Worth reading before voting.

Site selection bids for 2010 and 2011 are open.  Currently, only Melbourne, Australia is bidding for 2010, only Seattle is bidding for 2011, and only Chicago has announced for 2012, so there's plenty of room for more entrants.
